  1. Hey everyone, I have been tryin to get my Band of Brothers video collection onto DVD and they are all compressed as .avi right now... When I use TMPGenc to convert them to mpeg, it says that the file cannot open, or unsupported. What does this mean? It is just a regular .avi file!

  3. When my dad transferred them from his computer to mine they were all in .avi format... They play fine on my computer and whatnot... All I have tried so far is converting it to mpeg using TMPGenc... any suggestiosn
    ?

    Get Gspot or AVICodec It will tell you what codec you need for the files.

    Why do I always suspect DIVX when I read these type of posts? I see andyp1 beat me to it, but rbmerc, see what format they are.

    You need a Divx5 codec.

  9. man i am the biggest nub, i forgot to reinstall divx after reformatting my computer a few days ago, thanks tho for the help! lol

    You so did not get those AVI files from your Dad otherwise he would have just backed-up the DVD discs directly no need to go DivX AVI route.

    Stupid.
