I'm trying to convert an .avi encoded in DivX but TMPGENC won't let me. I have all the codecs installed and it works with other divx files except for this one. This file runs fine in both Windows Media Player and GDivX Player. I tried to encode it using TMPGEnc V1.2a and it accepts and works. However, I want to convert it using a newer version. Is there a way TMPGEnc to accept any .avi file? Is there an option I can turn off or something? Please help.

    Thanks.

  2. Hi, get the same situation myself, the only way i've found around it (as a definate newbie) which may well be a totally wrong way to attack the problem is to take the file into virtual dub and compress it into divx 4.2 and then into tmpg, I think this worked for me, alternatively decode the sound and video seperately in virtual dub and output as uncompressed avi and a wav file which should both then load into tmpg although Im sure someone will advise on a better way to do it, as I am speaking from a few short hours experience.

Hope this helps in the meantime though

  3. If virtualdub has no problems dealing with the .avi try frameserving through virtualdub to tmpgenc.

  4. Go into options, then environmental settings, then VFAPI plugin in there, move the directshow multimeda filter to priority of 5
    that fixed it for me!!
