    Hey all,
I'm at work and nowhere near my unit or it's owner's manual and I have a dumb question that I need to answer in a flash for a speech I'm giving in a little while...

What region are the discs burned on a USA-bought, NTSC Panasonic unit like mine? Are they region 1, or are they region 0, or all they "all-region"? In other words, if I burn an NTSC disc on my unit and send it to someone in, let's say, Spain, who has an NTSC-capable DVD player, will they be able to view it on their TV set?

Thanks in advance for any help you all can offer on the fly like this!

    - Jim

Thanks so much for the prompt reply! So when I see a disc referred to as being Region 0, does that mean the other fellow is confused, or do some folks use that as a shorthand to mean "all regions"?

Actually you'll get region 0 or "all-region" on your burned discs and, yes, they can be played on any NTSC-capable players.

I'm really tired of so much misleading information being posted around here.

  5. I thought the manual said they were all region, so they play anywhere.

  6. When I check a disc recorded on my E-50 it says it is playable in region 1-8, has no RCE Protection and no Copyright Protection System. They should be playable anywhere.
Still a few bugs in the system...

gee that is funny. Every disc you buy here in the us is region 1. Also on dvdshrink and other programs, the regions start at 1 and go from there. So I did not give misleading info. You need to stop your whining.

Apparently you are reading-challenged. Do you even own a standalone DVD recorder? Next time read all the posts, or better yet, post something you actually know, before you further embarrass yourself.

BTW, region code is used mainly for commercial DVD movies and there is no region code in any blank recordable/rewritable DVD media. Just in case anyone who actually believes your "misleading information".

no I have a dvd burner.stfu. I was talking about buying and ripping. I also have 3 standalone dvd players. And I am not reading challenged. Dvdshrink version 1-3.17 does not list region 0, so there.....It states region-free, not region 0

  13. Now I get it. Your original post was just a rant, and had nothing to do with this particular thread.

You are wrong. Show us any blank DVD media with region code. Like I said, don't further embarrass yourself. Now who looks like an ass?

you can make it that way *******. Using dvdshrink, you can choose regions, or you can make it region free. I am not embarrasing myself. I was answering a question with my knowledge of backing up dvd's. Have you ever used dvdshrink. Alright then, stfu

You poor sap, region code comes from the original commercial DVD and sure you can manipulate the code once the CSS is cracked. There is no region code attached to the blank media as you implied in your earlier posts. Besides, the whole thread is discussing the standalone (set-top) DVD recorders, not dvdshrink.

as stated before, I was trying to help and did not know what forum I was in .

Please do not make this the end of the world.ok..... I was stating that commercial dvd's are region 1 as well as when you back up dvd's you can chhose a region code. I never said blanks were. I was talking about backing up movies. And the machine is region 1 unless it is imported.

No body in the whole thread was talking about backing up movies except you. You really have a very short-term memoery. How many more terms can you invent?
