I have been doing capturing of my analog camcorder tapes in the past using the ASUS ViVo card and VirtualDUB with success.

I recently bought a Pinnacle PCTV deluxe that contains an MPEG-2 h/w encoder and a TV tuner, and it has been doing nice work capturing from the tuner and my VCR (VHS PAL).

A friend gave me two tapes of his newborn baby to convert to DVD. I thought it would be nice and quick, but it isn't

I can't capture directly from the Camcorder. The signal is PAL alright, but the video is unstable. Like every few frames, one is loosing sync and shifting to the right.

A still capture that shows partially what is going wrong is attached (I hope)...

What is really weird, is that I tried to record the camcorder feed onto the VCR and then from the VCR onto the PC with PCTV. This is succesfull.

So, it appears, the camcorder output is fine for the VCR (as was for the VIVO card), but not for the PCTV. It can't get synchronized. I've tried both the Pinnacle supplied application as well as the eMuzed Movie Mill TV program. Both show the same symptoms.

Any ideas as to the reason?
