  1. I've been downloading some concert DVD bootlegs off the internet. They are downloaded as DVD's (video_ts folders, some even with menus and chapters)

Well I've tried to burn 3 different shows (just dropping the folder in Toast) and the disc will not play. I can open the donwloaded TS folders in Apple DVD player but the discs are not burning succesful. I just ripped Kill Bill and burned with the same media so it can't be the media.

    Any ideas??

    Thanks!

Are you sure you are burning the discs properly?

    WHOOPS!!!!
Dropping the VIDEO_TS folder into toast yields a non usable dvd as it titles the DVD VIDEO_TS and puts all the files in the root.

instead, you need the VIDEO_TS folder in the root, also a AUDIO_TS folder in there as well

    DVD_NAME
    _____AUDIO_TS [FOLDER]
    _____VIDEO_TS [FOLDER]
    _________Video Files

    make since?

I suggest you to try DVD Imager (http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html) to produce a .img file

Then drop this img file in disk utilities, then choose 'burn'

Innocent until proven guilty I say!

Some bands encourage bootlegging! (Not many I'll admit, but some do!)

Usually, they're not too enthralled at people bootlegging their DVDs... Big difference between recording a live show and copying their DVD.

Hmm you might be right, although I thought it was more a case of someone making a DVD out of a bootleg camcorder recording of a concert. The bit about 'some even have menus' kinda suggests that to me.
