  1. I use a Phillips DVD recorder to record VHS content to DVD+RW, then desire to edit & author the content to create a new DVD.

In VideoStudio 8 (trial) I've inserted video clips extracted from the DVD's Video_TS folder.
No sound in preview mode. But suspecting this could be just a preview problem, I continued doing some simple edits (adding titles) at various points. Using Share, I cannot create a video file or DVD with sound.

When I use TMPGEnc DVD Author (trial) I don't get any sound in preview either, but the produced video files & DVD's HAVE sound. I would use TMPGEnc DVD Author instead, but it doesn't provide the ability to add add scene titles, transitions, etc.

    Thanks.
(The earth.wmv posted in this forum plays sound in VideoStudio8).

  2. I'm aware VideoStudio 8 has issues with AC-3 and have attempted the LPCM audio conversion method posted by nezza_42 1/25/04, but the resultant .vob file (renamed to .mpg) did not have sound when played by Windows Media Player.

Is there a method/tool for ripping video files with AC-3 audio and saving as VideoStudio 8 compatible files for editing?

i think you need to demux the video and audio and maybe convert the audio to wav (or mp2).
