  1. How many times we can rewrite a DVD+RW disc. Say a TDK disc which I believe is better quality than others.

  2. if you believe the vendors...about 100,000 times (100 times more than CDRW). horror stories here would have you believe differently. some users state their dvdrw failed after as little as 3 months. personally all mine are still fine (Verbatim MCC) after about 6 months and as many as 8 rewrites.

A DVD+RW disc is very similar to a CD-RW disc in terms of the number of times that it can be re-written to. Tests have proven a re-recording capability of over 1,000 times, so this is why this number is stated by most manufacturers as a minimum. However, in practice this number will probably be much higher.
I believe the 100,000 applies to DVD-RAM in cartridge

I think 10,000 is the claim.

Those numbers are for ideal conditions, no durt, no scratches, no high temp storage etc.

But if you take care of your DVD's and you buy good ones then the amount of times you can rewrite it isn't something you should worry about.

My Imation DVD+RW's have 50-75 rewrites and still going strong. My HP DVD+RW has 200-250 rewrites with no errors.

  8. makntraks, I agree. If it work atleast 20/30 times then it is sufficient for me. I think the quality will also be same for R and RW.

Just my opinion-> I will spend $10 more to get 50 pack RW rather than R.

  10. Somewhere around here I have five Memorex DVD+RW discs that I've been doing write/erase cycles on for the last few months. I think the last time I checked they were over 300 rewrites each. I know that they were easily over 250...

I also have (finally) a Verbatim DLP DVD+RW disc that my Optorite will actually burn. It's already up to 70 write/erase cycles without any problems.

Hey, wait a minute. He's talking about TDK +R discs, and everybody knows that's the choice of warez pirates for moving their movies from thevalentipirates.com to DVD.

The actual number depends however both on the writer and the discs. A German magazine (C't) made a test a while ago and I think some discs survived >1000 rewrites while some discs were not even close to reach 1000 rewrites.
