  1. Hi,

I am trying to join to avi's in virtual dub to create onle large avi of around 4.5gig (using win 2000 & ntfs. I set VD to directstream copy as all i want to do is append one avi on to the end of the other and then I choose save avi. It creates the avi as one file and there is no problem with the video as it appears to join fine however the sound just dissapears halfway through the first part of the first clip way before the part where they were joined. Anybody have any ideas how i can get around this as I really need to be able to join avi's together to make a large file before encoding to mpeg2. The reason for having multiple files is that my studio dc10+ card breaks any capture up in to 2gb files.

    Any help appreciated.

    Cheers

  2. VirtualDub (VDub) sometimes does this.
This process will take longer but it should work. First separate the audio streams from the video streams from each 2gb section. You can do this using VDub; load each AVI and go to "File -> Save WAV", now take these WAV files and join them together using any compatible WAV file editor. Now do what you would normally do to join several AVI's and instead of selecting "AVI audio" under "Audio", select "WAV audio" and load the WAV file you created earlier. Now save the whole thing as AVI.

If this doesn't work you could also try loading all the AVI files (appending all segments) and then saving audio as WAV file. Play this WAV and make sure all audio is there. Now select WAV audio instead of AVI audio and save as AVI.

    Hope this helps.
