  2. Adobe Audition will allow you to record seperate tracks and arrange in surround sound but then you won't be able to export it to a 5.1 ac3 file. You can only do a wma9 5.1 file. You MAY be able to make 6 .wav's but then you're still looking at a different encoder for AC3. I know Acid Pro 4.0 has a surround pack (additional plugin) that will allow you to do DD 5.1
    but then we get into the whole big dollars thing and therin lies the problem

    Premiere might come with DD 5.1 encoder? Or a plugin you can get for it..the high rollers here will know.

    You need to create 6 waves - Audition and Acid Pro makes it, I think Vegas Video and Premiere Pro too;

    Then you need an aplication that would accept an input of 6 wave files, SoftEncode makes it, I think Besweet too;

    My method is :

    Create a mono wave file from the two original stereo track (whatever audio editor makes it), then, on SoftEncode :

    R nd L = FR, SR, FL, SL
    Mono file = LFE and C

    I have never tried Acid Pro, it might be worthyto take a look, maybe create "real" surround effects, I just duplicate channels;

    It's an audio AC3 encoder, take a look at the tools section on this site, you'll notice lots of WAVE to AC3 converters;
