    How about either the:

    * Osprey-210, or
    * Winfast TV-2000 XP "Expert"

    both cards are great. I"m currnetly checking out my Winfast w/ my Pioneer
    LD player CLD-D701 w/ my SW disks, and good set of S-Video cables, and so
    far, I like what I see this card (vs. my ADVC-100) but only because I have
    more color-space to play with from this Analog capture card :P

    New computer. My current one is a worn-out old whore that did the job reliably, but things are going bad one-by-one.

    Because of this thread, it got me thinking, so I just bought my next upgrade. Turns out the price of PC800 RDRAM has fallen recently, so I grabbed the 512 upgrade for $150 off eBay. Not bad at all. I could afford that. Gonna have 1GB of RD here soon, goodie goodie, heh heh.

    My multitasking is what kills me.

    Watch out all you Win32'ers out there. The 64k resource memory of those Win95/98/98SE/ME systems upchucks on 512+ MB RAM. I'm now on WinXP Pro on the main system. I have it de-uglified and on the slim-fast plan, so it's running pretty well. XP seems to finally be stable on it (unlike 2000 and early XP).

  8. I built my own computer.

    Next upgrade will be new power supply, new motherboard, new memory and new cpu. I expect about $380 worth of parts will give me a $2000 computer.

    probably a rebuild of the current general-purpose box (a T-Bird 900 / 256Mb / 80Gb). It still runs okay, but it's starting to get a little buggy on the hardware...

    the video box and my audio studio machine are all running fine, no need to upgrade yet.

  10. Will no doubt increase HD space... (maybe firewire or USB)

    How well does a Firewire or USB Drive work compared to your "off the shelf" IDE 7200 RPM drive

    New video capture card Winfast TV-2000 XP Deluxe isn't that good

    Better mother board

    When they come out, 64bit Pentium 4 processor.

    1 GB of ram is good enough for now.

    so new PC is the alternative for TMPGEnc users, just that its still slow with next years Pentium5 8Ghz.

    Pentium5 8Ghz?!? Next year? I'd love one of these.
