    Not long ago I asked if anyone know how to check the firmware version of DVD drive. And I didn't have any respond.

    But I just found that Nero InfoTool CAN!

    Nero 6 Download Package 1 contains:

    dvdinfopro does it for me. simple stuff its on the first screen. some other does it but i furrrget what it is right now. hi.

    The following will detect the firmware version:

    http://global.benq.com/service/cdr/firmware_detect.htm

    Nice thing is it's just one executable file that's only 48KB in size. Of course, that's all it will do (unlike the plethora of information you get using DVDInfoPro).
