    Hello,

I have 2 seperate dvix files that i want to join together.

I always use VirtualDub to allow me to join divx files.

However when i open the divx file in VirtualDub i get this error message,

How can i correct this error ? to allow me to join the 2 files together ?

    Thanks

Try Virtualdub MP3 Freeze. Do so at your own risk because as I've advised you in the past, joining avi's doesn't always meet with good results. Especially when variable bitrate audio is involved.

Yes , better to encode the two parts seperately and pu the on the same track in the authoring.

This isn't an "error" as such, it is more of a warning. As the warning message says, extract the audio to an uncompressed wav file.

You would need to open virtualdub, load the first segment, load additional segments, and then output video only to a file. Close virtualdub and reopen it. Load each file individually and output each file's audio to its own uncompressed WAV. Then use a sound editor to join the WAVs together. After joining, make sure that the sound length is exactly the same as the video length. I think Goldwave can do this for you with its timewarp facility. Then open virtualdub again and use the long video file and specify WAV audio and use your joined audio file.

I have used a program called Peck's Power Join for all my AVI joins without a hassle.
    If in doubt, Google it.

I could be wrong, but I interpreted the question as that the poster just wants to join into 1 divX file, not put it on a VCD/SVCD/DVD or play in a standalone divX player. Therefore there would be no authoring stage.

A quick look at GSV Bennys previous post show that he does indeed make DVDs and has had audio sync problems , so I think it was safe of me to assume that he would probably want to encode these particular files.
Is it wrong to second guess what a person may want to do ?

I'll have to add to my signature the line "Never, ever assume anything"

Yes i do want to make a DVD after joining the 2 files

    Cheers for the help.

    /EDIT

I just used VirtualDubMod to join the 2 files.

I now have one file thats 1.36Gb in size.

I play the file in media player and its fine audio in sync no problems there.

So now its just a case of encoding the video and audio ?

    Cheers
