  1. I get a floating decimal error when trying to convert a avi to mpeg so that I can burn a vcd. It gets halfway through then at 53% it bombs. I have converted files before but this has stumped me.

  2. I've had the same problem, so I reviewed the TMPGenc guide elsewhere on this site. I did everything it said AND decreased my output screen size. Now I get 3/4 of my .avi file changed to MPEG2 then the screen on the program goes black, and the program converts 25% of just a black screen. I think it has something to do with the amount of video RAM being used by my system (WinME with P-III 1GHz system with 512Megs of RAM, with Maxtor Diamondhead 40Gig harddrive for video storage only.) Maybe someone here can tell us how to increase video RAM.

  5. Ok Its been a while so bear with me the problem you are having is there are some errors in some of the frames in the .avi to fix them you need to get rid of them with virtualdub.

Open the .avi make sure that the video setting is set to direct stream copy. and scan forward and watch the bottom of the screen and when it finds an error it will promt it at there. I usually move forward one frame and mark that the mark in. continue scanning till you find the last errored frame. and mark that the mark out, once you have the in and out marks in delete the frames and save the .avi under a new name for back up reasons. scan the new .avi just in case there may be another error. if no errors your done, unless you extract the sound from the vid then you will need to do it again with the new vid. one thing the error will not go away at the bottom so I hit the alt key and it will leave so you know if there is an error or not
