  1. when I put in a vcd?

I have only tried it with this one i was trying to burn but when I put it in, I have to restart my computer and make sure to take it out or when it starts back up it is just frozen again.

That'd be my guess too. Explorer is probably choking on read errors. Happens to me every time I use cheap media.

  4. I have this when I use one of my data CDs that has become scratched and nackered, or when I do a bad burn by going too fast (can't now - I can only do CDs at 16x due to my Pioneer DVR-106) and "My Computer" used to crash the machine.

I did manage to release it by forcing Explorer to end, then manually running Explorer again since it never seemed to auto-execute again.

So, I'm afraid it looks like a bad burn. Try again!
