Pacman,
Sorry, you're right, my sentbox has all my old sents, outbox only has one, apparently unread, left in it.
Actually, in this whole thread, it's not so much the Al/Plastic rifle, as the caliber/calibre. It's mostly that a real rifle should let you know it has spoken.
.22s are guns that should have plinkers of a buck a box of 50. 6 mm and up are where HP rifles start. My own stop, now, at 7 mm, both Rem Mag, and 7mm/08, sweet shooting and can drive tacks.
The Mag, for which I reload, talks back at me too much to even work up any loads, more accurate then the 3/4 inch it does now. Sumbitch hurts off the bench. Blame the European style stock, minimal surface area at the buttplate.
The 7mm/08, Browning Lever Rifle, barreled by P.O.Ackley's shop before he died, you can damn near put the butt to your nose and not get a nosebleed. Sweet is the word for it. Only non-bolt rifle I own, other than a Rem slide action .22.
BTW, the M1, M14, M16, are all assault rifles. They're designed to be used by troops when they attack someone.
The media and the politicians have labeled the "mean" looking Armalites, AKs, Norincos, (Not Norelcos, as someone above said).
Have any of you ever noticed that when someone coldcocks someone else with the proverbial "leg'o lamb", the news media will go all somber, and behind the talking head will be a picture of a revolver? Run down with a Cadillac, poisoned, stuck with a knife, bludgeoned with a tennis racket or a golf club, always a picto of a revolver.
Subtle brainwashing?
Anybody buying PMC ammo? Originally Pyong Yang Metallic Cartridge Company. Korean ammo. Hey, if you get it cheap enough, and shoot lots, go for it.
Cheers,
George
