  1. It seems I like going around in circles – been trying different productions and options but still not confident in what I should use.

Tools I have: (all latest versions)
    Adobe Premier
    TMPGEnc Plus 2.5
    TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5
    Nero suite
Question 1: What to do – Is it better to:
    - export from Premier to a ‘.m2v’ file then into ‘TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5’ to Author and burn DVD
    - or
    - export from Premier an AVI file bring it into ‘TMPGEnc Plus 2.5’ to create an .MPG file then into ‘TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5’ to Author and burn DVD

    Question 2
Does DVD authoring tools affect the quality of the movie. In other words would I get the same quality of DVD if I authored in ‘TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5’ or ‘Nero’ suite

    Thanks for ANY opinions

Good question. I have TMPGEnc Plus (pd for) and trial TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 and it sucks. Fast, efficient but poor layout, menues hard to modify and align...etc. What is NERO like for menues, etc?

I need to have a program that accepts an MPG2 with AC3.
Thank You & Have a great Day! :)

  3. Question 1. The fewer steps the better. If you feel that Premier puts out a good quality mpeg, then do so. If you are not happy with it's output as mpeg, outputting an avi (one conversion) then encoding in tmpgenc (second conversion) is not going to improve quality.

Question 2. NeroVision Express is akin to Tmpgenc DVD Author, with a few more bells and whistles. Still difficult (impossible?) to manipulate menus. A large collection of canned templates though.
Try DVDLab. It's well worth the investment.
