Well Reboot, if you want, you can run in here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DVD-lab#usercomments , and / or here: https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DVD-lab_PRO#usercomments .
And GavSalkeld,
"does uninstalling, cleaning the registry, rebooting and reinstalling help", sometimes helps for instance, for one or some moments only. As I said, I am testing the software at the Windows 98 SE now.

Well, first of all, I used the smartripper to copy the main content of an original dvd to my hd in some vob files. Then, from those, I used the dvd2avi to create either a d2v file and a wav file. Then I used the VFAPICodecV105EN to use the d2v file to create a fake (meta) avi file to let me be able open the vob files through that fake(meta) avi file and the d2v file, I guess. That was because I was interested to add a little logo in the corner of the whole film of the dvd content. I used the VirtualDubMod to open that fake/meta avi file, and serve the avi with the logo at same time through the virtualdubmod server, to the tmpgenc plus to get either an only mpg file or an m2v and a wav file, to finally author a dvd.
The problem now, is that I lost all my files used to author my dvd allready burned. Then ,I used the nerovision to get a mpg file back again. I wish could exist a "NeroVision" one that could allready give us it demuxed, a m2v and a wav file. I know that the dvdlab can do this, but I got an error while I tryed to. And by the way, I am allready at the Windows 98SE now.
By now, I am using the Tmpgenc plus to get the m2v and wav files back again, but this takes too much time.
Another option, would be I try to find a soft to give me allready a m2v and a wav files from vob ones.
Another option, I guess could be ask the people from the dvd-lab pro to try to used another compiler to make their soft, I guess. -
What a waste of time.
Rip the dvd in smartripper.
Deumx in tmpgenc, or ReJig.
This gives you the m2v and mpa/ac3.
Load the m2v into virtualdubmod, add logo.
Frameserve to tmpgenc plus.
Load finished m2v and ac3 into dvdlab.
Another option, would be I try to find a soft to give me allready a m2v and a wav files from vob ones.
Try ReJig.Cheers, Jim

WHAT YOU DO TO GET SOMETHING TO BE OPEN BY THE VIRTUALDUB TAKES MORE TIME THEN WHAT I DO.
Load the m2v into virtualdubmod, add logo.
Frameserve to tmpgenc plus.
Load finished m2v and ac3 into dvdlab.

You can't get a .wav from a .vob, unless it was authored with a .wav
Try ReJig.

I didn't say virtualdub.
I said virtualdubmod.
You are manually attempting to change the start point of a chapter motion thumbnail.
Why?
The thumbnails are designed to start where your chapter points are.
If you don't want the thumbnail to start on THAT chapter point, change the chapter point.
I already asked if you were changing any components on the chapter thumbnail menu's, and you didn't answer.
This is your problem.
Stop trying to outthink the program. You do not need to manualy set the thumbnail start points. Just set your chapter points, generate the menu, and leave it at that.Cheers, Jim

Im making a basic DVD with a 10 min film on I made. I have a DTS 5.1 track and a Dolby 5.1 track.
I have a main menu with a Play button on that, when clicked, takes the user to a new menu where you can select DTS or 5.1. On choosing, the audio track is set and the user can then go to the bottom and click Play Movie to play the film.
However, I have a DTS trailer I wish to play before the movie starts but only if DTS is selected. Otherwise, I just want the movie to play. Is there any way to do this at all please, anyone?
Thanks in advance. -
You have to make a conditional branch.
One to play the intro if DTS is selected, the other goes directly to the movie.
Use the branch tool, and edit it's properties.
There's a thread on this at the mediachance.com forums.Cheers, Jim

OK, this is really annoying me now and has been for three hours.
I compiled a DVD with one intro logo and one movie with AC3 and DTS audio. I compiled it fine, played it fine, but wanted to change the audio volume. I re-encoded the DTS file and tried to compile the DVD again but I get a "serious error" immediately when muxing starts. Why?!
I spent time re-encoding the MPEG2 file, I started a new project with blank connections, etc yet STILL I am getting the same error EVERY time. I have remade menus about five times yet STILL get an error.
Here is my DVD layout:
Does ANYONE have a clue what could be wrong here? It worked once, now it wont work again and its highly annoying. -
Set firstplay and title button to a VTS.
Put in your logo and audio. Set delay.
On Menu 1, select Dolby, or DTS.
Link the Dolby track to movie 1.
Link the DTS track to another VTS with the DTS intro in it, and then to movie 1.Cheers, Jim

Wont that just play the movie with the first audio stream, ie the AC3 track? Would some more screen caps help? -
Well I just tried it AGAIN with a new project and I'm STILL getting a compile error.
The first play is a 10-second logo with AC3 sound in VTS2, which then goes to the single menu via a bridge.
On the main menu, I have a choice between DTS 5.1 and Dolby Digital 2.0 224kbps. I also have a Play Movie link. Clicking on either sound option selects an audio track and restarts the same menu. Clicking Play Movie then starts the movie with the selected audio track playing.
I have burned multiple DVDs doing this the same way, sometimes with an extra main menu, and they always work. But now, muxing JUST starts and it wont encode. I cant find ANYTHING in the Help file with the program, nor can I find anything online to help.
I am totally stuck! -
The error is telling you that there's something wrong with your assets, not your compilation.
Make sure you have the AC3 DD2.0 track as the first audio track.
Check the m2v for DVD compliance in framerate, bitrate, aspect ratio, GOP structure, etc.
Try a test compile, just to make sure the structure is ok first.
If the test works, then you know it's an asset problem.Cheers, Jim

Hi Jim.
Thanks for the post.
I did everything right - the DVD video was 100% compliant, AC3 as first track, etc. It compiled once then didnt work again. I have no idea why. But when I made a half-rate DTS track and compiled it again, it worked fine! However, Ive used full-rate DTS tracks on all my other DTS DVDs using the same menu structure, etc. and they all worked fine. Why this one was any different I do not know. The total bitrate was under 9.8mbps too.
Strange... -
Even 9.8mbps may be far too high. Peaks could be in excess of 10mbps.
Something is out of spec. In this case, probably a very high bitrate DTS track, which throws the peak bitrate too high.Cheers, Jim
My DVDLab Guides -
DVD max bitrate is 9.8mbps, so everything I do is always under that. As I said, Ive done 4 DTS discs before this one with a bitrate of around 9.6 and full-rate DTS tracks and they work fine.
Its one of those things, I guess. -
Try it with a lower bitrate. If it works, you know the answer.
Of course, it could be just "one of those things"...in this hobby, there's always one file that will refuse to cooperateCheers, Jim

OK, another error for you all to contend with
Ive just waited as DVD Lab Pro did the frame indexing and now it gives me this:
Any ideas? Never happened before. -
Update Visual C++ runtime from Microsoft.
Cheers, Jim
My DVDLab Guides -
I redid the AC3 with Sonic Soft Encode as opposed to Digigram and it worked fine.
-
Just goes to show that the error message (again) has nothing at all to do with the actual problem

Does anyone know how to change the Selected and Activated colour maps for a group hot spot? I tried doing it in the Map options like a normal button but the colours stay the same - purple for selected, white for activated.
Can you even change them at all?
