  1. When I downloaded a movie from my digital camera to my pc I got a file thats about 20 gigs.
I want to edit the files and finally burn it to a dvd, but I have a problem with the file size, since a dvd is only 4.7 gig.

Do I have to convert it to divx, xvid or whatever?

PS: This might sound noobish :P

  2. <------------------ Click on the CONVERT on the left side of your screen.

20GB sounds like a little than 2 hours of uncompressed DV video.

Are you trying to create a DVD that will play in a DVD player? If so then you need to convert it to mpeg then author and burn it to disk. Here are some guides.

If you only want to put them on a DVD in order to play them on a PC then you can convert them to divx or xvid which can be much smaller than a similar mpeg file.

if you are going to edit the footage, leave it as an avi file, do you editing, and then convert to mpg. dont convert to mpg first then edit, mpg's are more of a hassle to edit with.

  5. Ok i'll do that, but I have multiple files for this one movie and I tried to join some...
BUT when I try to join some files in VirtualDub MOD I get the error:
'The video streams have different sampling rates (25.00106 vs. 25.00100)

The files are all comming from the exact same movie, with the same options, so why are the rates different?? And how do I join them?
