  1. Okay here it is.... EVERYTIME I try to make a compliant DVD file it ends up being too big or so DVD Architect tells me. I have used the bitrate calculator, even asked questions here and set my max bitrate to 8,000, min to 2,000, and average to the value I get from the bitrate calc, but, I always get a 4.5 GB file and a ~130,000 kb/s *.AC3 file. I multiplex and then try to author in DVD Architect but it keeps telling me the approx project size is 6.0 GB and I get an error message telling me that the video will have to be recompressed....

Am I doing or missing something stupid? I have made 100's of *.svcd's, *.vcd and the like, but I am just baffled as to why this is happening...

How big should a dvd compliant file be?? is 4.5GB to big??? If so now what????

    Any suggestions?? I am lost

    My process:

    gspot
    vitrualdub
    CCE
    AC3 Machine
    Pulldown (if needed)
    TMPGEnc (multiplex)
    DVD Architect

    Thanks for the help....

What is the length of your movie and what bitrate did you select?

  3. 4.5gb is probably perfect, but then you load it into DVDArchitecht and it's too big. Why? Because the authoring app is going to add menus, titles, chapter points, buttons, links, and all the hundred other things that go into making a pretty dvd.
If you don't want pretty, use Sonic or QuEnc, and your 4.5gb will probably work.
