  1. I was wondering if any of you can help me. I have an xbox with what I think is a samsung drive because it has two holes in the tray and I bought it in October of last year. Well anyway, It has a problem playing dvd +or-R but will play dvd-rw so I'm wondering if any of you can tell me why it does this. This is wierd because the dvd of my wedding is a dvd+r and it plays it fine but when I burn one using 1clickdvd or roxio the xbox says it doesn't recongnize the disk. So if any of you can help me I would really appreciate it. Thanks!!

I backup my movies using DVDShrink and Nero and put them on DVD+R. I never have a problem playing them in my XBOX.

  3. hey
as far as i know, if it is a samsung drive it will have a problem w/playing dvd+r's. however, it should have no problem playing dvd-r's. there's supposed to be a manner in which you can burn a dvd+r that the samsung will recognize. i just recently bought a samsung 616t replacement drive and i can confirm it does play -r's but not +r's. thank goodness for dual format writers. hope that helps.
if you haven't, you should check xbox-scene.com, for more info.

  5. Thanks a lot guys! I tried backing up a movie last night using nero but it still didnt work on the xbox using +r. So I'm going to try using -r now to see what happens. Hey jhr1948 can you tell me what the tray in your samsung drive looks like? Mine has two holes in the very beginning of it that look like evil eyes or somthing and two circular ones towards the middle. I know that my friends older xbox doesnt have these so I'm guessing mine is a samsung? If you can tell me I would really appreciate it. Well thanks again to all of you for helping me.

  6. If DVD-R wouldn't work you could try bitsetting (nec2500)

  7. i've got an xbox with a samsung drive and it doesn't read +r very well. it's known that the samsung will read cd-r, cd-rw, dvd-r, and dvd-rw very well. but not dvd+r. I've seen many people say they have success burning dvd+r with bit setting to dvd-rom. i haven't tried this because i haven't got around to buying some +r media.

  8. In Nero you need to check the box 'force xbox compatibility mode'.

  9. Handyguy does Nero 6.0 have the "force xbox compatibilty mode" box and if it does where can I find it. If anyone wants to download nero 6 or 5.0 along with other programs go to - its a great site check it out.

  11. There is a site I forget which has pictures of the tray and that's how you can tell. I you go to cdrlabs forums and DVD-writable and do a search on Xbox you may find it. If your tray has holes in it, I think its a Samsung. If you can bitset your + to DVD-ROM or use RecordNow I think those may be to solutions for +/Xbox.
