  2. Turn the caps lock off, All versions support NTFS, shouldn't. NTFS won't make too much of a difference to encoding, the operating system is faster, but only if you have the hardware to run it, you need at least 128Mb ram etc. Basically if your only thinking of an upgrade for TMPGEnc then don't waste your money. If you have other reasons then go for it.

  3. The only way it will be faster is if u upgrade ur processor or memory...Not going to make a diffrence switching the allocation table to NTFS...

Well, whether Windows XP is actually faster than Windows 98 depends on the speed of your hardware. If you have a slow system with little (< 128mb) RAM, then Windows XP is going to crawl on your system. But if you have a fast (at least a P3-500 IMHO)with atleast 128mb of RAM, then Windows XP might run a little faster in some areas. I just switched over from Windows 2000 to XP and it does seem to run a little faster than Win2K. I doubt you will find a significant increase in encoding speed just by switching to XP. Upgrading your CPU or a change in encoding software is what really affects encoding time.

All versions of Windows NT 4.0, Windows 2000, and Windows XP support the NTFS file system.

    just switched to XP

Encodes about 15-20% faster using CCE than before.
Tho my system is a 1.2gig athlon with 256M ram.

BTW after my upgrade, my disks are still fat32, in order to break the 4gig barrier i need to go NTFS. Since I have a dedicated hard drive for video...can I just convert that drive to NTFS and leave my system drive alone?

I am not sure if it was worth it or not. I am still having trouble with drivers...but it does seem to have some nice features and it is definitly snappier than win98se. I know I should do a clean install but....after playing with video for so long....I have a large time investment with respect to installed programs. The bigest bummer appears to be that the capture card drivers only let u get one field

  6. You can format one partition as NTFS, just choose it in the format dialog
