  1. Hi,

I've used the fastDVD preset to convert a avi file. All went ok, except that the VIDEO_TS directory wasn't created (the .mpv, the .ac3 and the .mpg are created, though).

The end of the log says (Major, if you want, i can send you the whole stuff):

    [mpeg2video @ 0x1eb024]rc buffer underflow
    video:2204644kB audio:0kB global headers:0kB muxing overhead 0.000000%
    bench: utime=4025.960s
    Input #0, avi, from '/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/jaco/Desktop/Prisonniers.du.Temps.avi':
    Duration: 01:53:30.3, bitrate: 844 kb/s
    Stream #0.0: Video: mpeg4, 576x240, 23.98 fps
    Stream #0.1: Audio: mp3, 44100 Hz, stereo, 128 kb/s
    Output #0, ac3, to '/Volumes/Macintosh HD/Users/jaco/Desktop/movie.ac3':
    Stream #0.0: Audio: ac3, 48000 Hz, 5:1, 128 kb/s
    Stream mapping:
    Stream #0.1 -> #0.0
    video:0kB audio:106410kB global headers:0kB muxing overhead 0.000000%
**ERROR: [mplex] MUX STATUS: Frame data under-runs detected!

I've then tried to author a DVD with CaptyDVD (i've tried before with a mpeg created with MMT-EZ and it worked) but Capty says it doesn't recognize this format (i can read the .mpg file with VLC or Mplayer and the quality seems promising).

Well... If tried to use the ffmegx tools: i've checked VIDEO_TS, choose the .mpg file then click on "Author" (well, in french, this button is labeled "Créer") : a window immediatly pops up and says "Done", but actually nothing is done nor created...

What could i try, now ?

  2. Try to remove the space from your hard disk name. Also, in case of muxing errors, disable "Quicktime decode" from the ffmpeg options before encoding.

I've tried all that but still no VIDEO_TS (or one with only one .vob of 0K).
    I'm still investigating.

  4. Same problem with Sizzle? If yes, your file is possibly corrupted.

Well, i realize my previous post was confusing

0K means "zero K", not Okay...

I'm gonna test to produce with another tool a VIDEO_TS from the mpeg produced by ffmpegX, to see if the pb comes from the ffmpegX generated mpeg.

The very same .avi file is encoded without any pb with MMT-EZ or Mpeg2works, so i doubt this problem is related to the original file. That said, ffmpegX is the only one to encode audio in AC3 (others use mp2), hence perhaps the problem

  6. Please note that "fast DVD" will not encode the same-way as "DVD hi-bitrate". "DVD-hi bitrate" is still more compliant to standard. In case of buffer problems with "fast DVD", disabling the "Decode with Quicktime" option can help.

    Both presets can use AC3.
