  1. I am looking for a sub $100 authoring program that can automatically select the maximum bit rate to squeeze the length of the video onto a DVD. As an example lets's say I have a 1.5 hour video.

    A lot of editors like screenblast and PS9 will only let you create dvd's that are about 1 hour 10min.

    I know one possible work around is to burn the image to disc and then use dvdshrink but it would be nice to have the same functionality right in the authoring program.

    Why not use a separate encoder where you can set exact size?

    I guess reasons of expense and simplicity. In the past when I used TMPGENC for VCD's I don't remember a way to set the bit rate based on the desired file size.
