  1. forget the advantage of 8x burning with G05, which media is most stable/compatable. Ive seen reports that G05 discs burned at 8x give hight PO errors. Whats the better media?

  2. Is that true?

Are G05 just as good as G04 but faster?
Feedback would really help because a 100pk is about the same price right now at Supermediastore and I'm about to get discs really soon.

Dude I've had such great results with Riteks. I'm just wondering if G05 are the same but you can write to them faster.

I'm probably not going to get a descent answer so i'll just have to go with G04 because I know them, and they work great. I just wish Supermediastore would bring back the Ritek Ridata branded G04.

  5. tried the g05's when i got my plextor712a......really looked forward to burning -r's at 8x. even though riteks are on plextor's recomended media list, the g05's refused to burn at 8x. worked fine at 4x. also got some that wouldn't verify using dvd decrypter. the new g04's are working fine for me on both the plextor and 2 different tdk's (4040 and 840g) but i would prefer the old no cake box red wrappers.....just can't find them without the printable surface which i have no use for.

so for now i will be sticking to the g04's even though the g05's are actually on sale at newegg. been hearing good things about prodisc though.....any suggestions?

  6. It really depends on your burner. It looks like G05s are good in Pioneer 107s and 108s and in NEC 3500. There could be others as well. Spend some time over at CDFreaks in the media test section and you can probably see some Kprobes for your burner. One HUGE benefit, at least over Prodisc at about the same price, is that there are not three different media codes floating around. Also Ritek has rebates on, probably to try and get back some customers. I also wouldn't hold my breath waiting for 4X media to come back. Ty has discontinued and others are sure to follow.
Still a few bugs in the system...
