  1. Hi!

With my Pioneer 106D burner, usual take CopyToDVD v3.0.6.15 40 min to burn ripped DVD file.

With Nero Burning ROM v6 or Roxio v6, not much different to me.

If I use elby CloneDVD v2.0.8.4, it with copy the movies DVD about 50 min in total.

So I am getting little bit lazy now, just use elby CloneDVD most the time.

40 min to burn a DVD, is that 4x DVD burner max speed?

How long it takes to copy and burn a DVD depends upon how much data you are burning. The actual burning process itself should not take more than about 15 minutes to burn a DVD to max capacity at 4X.
There are too many variables in the process of ripping the DVD and getting the files ready to be burned to a blank DVD, to be able to say definitely how long this should take. However, 40-50 minutes sounds like a reasonable amount of time for the entire process at 4X.

ebenton is right on the money. Ripping can take 15 - 20 minutes depending upon movie length. Likewise another 10 - 15 to re-encode. Buring is about 15 as mentioned. All of this is dependant upon speed of your ripper drive, hard drive speed / location, memory, processor speed, and software(s) used. I've seen some quote 30 minutes, some 2 hours.

  4. NERO 6 full DVD burning at 4 speed using NEC 1300A firmware 1.0A on Pentium III 850 mhz internal 384 MB after encoded with dvd shrink takes around 30 minutes.
    Hope this helps.

At 4X the actual burn process should only be 15 minutes. As far as shrinking, that varies. If I do movie only with DVDShrink, it takes maybe 15-20 minutes to re-author (I don't rip the files to my hard drive if I use DVDShrink). If I'm doing a straight copy of a DVD-5, it takes no more than 30 minutes combined, I usually read the original disc at an average of about 6X, peaking at 11 briefly.
