  1. My menus look terrible in DVD Lab. I have a number of small 352x480 dvd complaint clips I want to put on a DVD all connected through a bunch of menus. Works great except for my horrible menus. Under "project properties" I selected "half D1" because I'm assuming if I select Full D1, it's going to mess up my videos. I have a real bad feeling when I changed it "Half D1," it made my menus (which were 720x480) also half D1. That's not what I was looking for. I also think this because I used powerDVD to capture a frame and pasted it into MSPaint. It was half the width it was when I put it in there. So can I, with DVD Lab, keep my menus 720x480 and videos 352x480? I suppose I'll try to just leave it on "Full D1" too and see what happens. I'm only 2 days into the trial....

  2. Hmmm. I set it the "Project Properties" to "Full D1" and my menus look far better. AND, on top of that, the highlight covers all the words as well. Not only that, I think my movies even look better too.

  3. The whole project should be as consistent as possible, however, you can have a 4:3 menu and a 16:9 movie. You can also have a full D1 menu and a half D1 video.

The only time DVD specs would be violated would be if you try to put D1 and half D1 in the same VTS. In this case, you wuld have to follow the VMG menu method in DVD-Lab and put the half D1 in one VTS and the full D1 in another.

  4. Man, you're lucky if u got button "highlighting" ! It's been many days i am trying to make it work and it just won't ! Except in the "dvd-lab simulator" where the text button or the rectangle will "highlight" when selected... but with PowerDVD and with my Pionneer DVD player, it won't... so i'm back to the Nero style menu, with single digit for every clip...

that's amazin, cuz freeware dvdauthorgui was working fine, except for the hours of fine tuning the rectangle around the menu items...

anyone can give me a clue here ?

In DVDLab, once you have your movie, chapters, and menus selected, highlight the button/link you want to be highlighted, and check the options on the right side.
By default (on the Map tab) the selected link should be highlighted in pink.
Are you by chance moving your links to the back, behind the background, and/or adjusting the transparency slider?
    Cheers, Jim
