I just converted an AVI file into VCD. I had some problems with the audio and i'm left with the AIFF huge file, but that's not a big problem since i encoded it with mpegger to have my needed mp2 format.
The main problem i'm having now is that when I multiplex the audio & the video, i end up with a file with no video (black screen). The mpeg1 video was OK before i add the audio.
I tried to multiplex with missingmpegtools but I don't have the "develloper tools" installed so it can not process. I don't know if it's me or a bug, but usually, multiplex is a function that works just fine.
Any help?

in ffmpeg, the "tools" tab (outils in my version), there's "Outils Video".
1. Fichier(s) à traiter:
I choose first the video file, then the audio in mp2 with the 2 "parcourir" buttons.
2. Lancer le traitement.
I click Multiplex after i choose VCD from the pop up list of different format.
Maybe the extensions of the files has something to do. I used .mpg and .mp2. Maybe i should have used .m1v and .mp2 instead. I'll try and let you know.
I burned the VCD in toast and my DVD player recognize it as a VCD, but it also displayed a black screen, like the file did in Quicktime.
thanks

i tried some things but i still can't get this file to be muxed.
i tried renaming it with extension .m1v but that didn't worked.
i tried to take the video file, then add the audio (AIF format to be encoded in mp2) from the audio tab. The setting in the video tab was mpeg1ffmpeg, but i unchecked the option "encode video"
was it a correct option? Because that gave me the same video file, without the audio.
What else can i try? I have the video in mpeg1 and the audio in AIF and mp2 (44100/224/stereo). I'm sure there's many ways to try, but i tried some and none gave any results at all. The best i came with, is a muxed file with a constant black screen.
Witch other software can multiplex?
Other things i tried:
• paste the AIF audio on the mpeg1 video in QT, then export to Toast VCD = error message; no video.
• add the mpeg1 video and the mp2 audio in toast so it can multiplex them, = error massage not enough free space on disc (video file is 415 mb and audio is 72 mb).
• tried Gumby = no mplex function.
• From the AVI file, encoded the video in mpeg1 and in the audio tab, added the AIF file and encode it in mp2 = 2 separate files, video ok, but mp2 audio is 0 K in size.
Thanks!

You're not operating correctly. The audio must be mp2, or at worst WAV, but never AIF. To mux, you should not use at all the video tab. You should simply go in the Tools tab, locate the m2v and mp2 (or wav) files in the first two small "Browse" buttons, and click the "MUX AS" button (make sure to select the mux format in the pulldown menu which is next to the MUX AS button).Originally Posted by PeaBrain
