I capture shows from either live capture or vhs tapes. channels 2 through like 13 have interference on them. Little clear barely visible lines that go horizontally across the screen. Channel 11 when I try to capture the lines become dark and more visible after capture and encoding. Is there any filters for VDub to clear any of this up? I tried checking the cables and all and the cable outlets, I still get the same result. I bought new wiring also. Maybe is has something to do with the wiring from outside, that is buried under the ground? anyway thanks

  2. first i would disconnect any cable lines except the one to the PC and see if that helps, then try and trace the bad wiring in the house. even the connections from VCR to TV can degrade the signal throughout the house.

if no problems are found, you can call the cable company and complain and they may be able to boost the signal to your house.

find any cable splitters and replace them with better ones, buy from cable company if you have to, but not like radio shack. also they may need to be grounded (sometimes they don't, but usually they should be).

if all else fails, buy a cable booster with a noise filter on it, or you can even find FM noise filters separate to add to your cable line.

I agree with what FiEND said.

Don't bother with VDub filters, fix the problem at the source.

I had my cable split three ways, with Radio Shack wires and splitters, and the picture quality was so-so; fuzzy here and there, and lines of interference. One day, I decided to rip all that out from behind the TV to tidy it up, and I got some cable and splitters from the cable company - the picture has never been clearer! (and the nest of cables behind my TV has never looked neater

It's in the cable companies best interest to provide you with high-quality cables and splitters - it saves them the $$ associated with coming out on a trouble-call to fix your problem, when its just crappy cables (thats my theory anyway).

Well I used to have Digital cable, so I might get it again. Last time I had movie channels too so it was 17 dollars more a month. This time I am just going to get the reciver and the digital cable package, it is 4 dollars more a month. Ok though, if the Source is Digital Cable and I tape it to a Vhs Tape in SP mode, will it still be as good as a live capture from the Digital Cable ?
