I have an .avi file that I want to put on DVD, so I fired up TMPGEnc and converted. I asked TMPGEnc to give me separate audio and video files (m2v+mp2) so I could use them in Scenarist.
Well, the video is flawless, looks as good as the original xvid in my opinion, but the mp2 files has absolutely no sound. It is 213 MB but when it is played in either windows media player or winamp, I hear nothing. And before anyone asks, I made sure my speakers were on, and that nothing was muted on my system, and that the volume was all the way up. It is just quite.
Does anyone know how i could remedy this, or if there is another program that can rip the audio out of an .avi to an .mp2 file?
thanks

your avi PROBABLY has ac3 audio I really don't know, if it does grab virtualdubmod and demux the ac3 audio, you should be able to use that then in your dvd author proggy, check it before you burn it for sync
