  1. I read the sticky post and did a search, but the only phrases I can think of give me thousands of replies.

I'm thinking of getting a DVD reader primarily because I want to stick a backed up DVD in it and back it up to my DVD+R simultaneously, thus bypassing the copy to the HD step.

Is this possible using a program like DVD Decryptor?

Don't know about that. Nero lets you use multiple drives like that. Just uncheck the "Cache files from disc and network" first. It's in the misc tab of the burn dialog box.

you could, but you may have buffer issues by writing on the fly. Imho, I feel copying the data to the hard drive first is safer, but do whatever you want.

Ditto. There's way to much data being transfered to trust an on-the-fly disc to disc copy.

  5. I have used DiscJuggler to do this with my DRU510. The burn took quite some time probably due to the buffer underrunn protection. I just went back to the old method of ripping the image to the hd and burning back to disk.
