dvdshot wroteIf 10 people didn't send in their rebates and completely forgot about them. The companies won't give a rats ass about it because that's just more money they can keep. And if the rebates were turned in, but those 10 people forgot about it. The company isn't going to chase them down and say, "HEY! you want your rebate check because we forgot to send it to you. It's only when someone will inquire about their rebates that the companies will respond. They could care less if you don't contact them.Another fun fact about rebates: They allot "12 weeks" to process your rebate. The longer they hold out on giving you your rebate, the longer they gain interest on that $50 you were promised. 3 months of interest on $50 isn't much, but when it's 100,000s of $50 rebates you're holding on to, the interest is huge.
When I purchased my Fuji dvd-r packs what difference would it make that I asked 2 friends to send in the rebate for me. If my 2 friends were with me at the time I would have just asked them to purchase 1 box each anyway so I see no difference. As someone said I'm ripping off the company by having my friends send in the rebate. I don't see it that way but call it what you want.![]()

(Strange that you say you asked 2 friends to send in the rebate. Earlier you said you said used their addresses. They are both dishonest anyway.)

Very simple, I don't buy products with mail in rebates. Instant rebates, by all means yes
All of the instructions means even things like putting a check mark by the product in question. The companies that handle this give instructions to their employees about how to process them and for some crazy reason they don't just tell them to use their own judgement. You have to fill the form out correctly.
I recieved a $50.00 rebate in the mail today. I've never not gotten a rebate. (At least no a big one, I don't really worry about the little ones) I've had to re-send some info on a few because I made a mistake. Best Buy has a remarkable system. They print out everything for you including a special rebate receipt and instructions.
(rcguy I just used the wording of your post because this is what came to mind when I read it. I would never argue with the point that some people don't want to bother. I personally never bother with coupons and I'm sure I could save a lot of money. They just don't seem worth the effort to me)

No one is saying you personally are to blame, it is just the irony of a complaint topic about rebate delays and problems includes a comment (yours) that illustrates part of why rebates are a headache.

I don't see why some of you are opposing what budz did !?! If he used his friends address or had them mail them in, big deal..... He did purchase two packs of them with his own money. I am sure these hugh corporations can survive especially with most people not even claiming their mail in rebates.
BTW dewbidge, I did call and after speaking with a CSR and telling her my problem, she "did some checking" and said "Oh, this our mistake and you should be getting this rebate in 4-6 weeks". What are the odds that I would have gotten my rebate had I not called ? And I knew for damn sure I sent in the correct UPC code as they rang up correctly at the register. I wonder how many other people recv. this card ?
They obviously are NOT going to check/fix this "error" themselves, only for those who call into complain. Next time, I'll be sure to follow budz lead just in spite of these greedy corporations.Even a fool can be wise, all he has to do is keep his mouth shut

So it turns out this huge mean spirited company maintains an 800 number which you called and they quickly corrected your problem. Bastards!

Take the card and copies of your rebate submission into the store and find the manager. They will usually give you the rebate in the form of a credit back to your card or cash on the spot, especially if it was a store rebate (manufacturers of media rarely run the rebate themselves).
In this case, it's certain someone just made a mistake. The processors are low paid workers and hardly enthusiastic. Further, I always staple everything together. Paperclips or loose UPC/receipts guarantee they will get lost.

At any given moment, I probably have $100 of outstanding rebates. I fill them in, and mail them off. I don't keep copies. I don't follow up. It's too much hassle for me. I am sure the ocassional one gets lost or turned down, but big deal. I save so much money in the long run it's not worth pursuing or even tracking.
I sort of keep a mental note about the ones that are larger than say $20. I think I have about a 95% track record with rebates. Now if I start getting the feeling that rebates from certain stores are regularly failing, then I'd just stop with those. But so far, it's gone well.
As for using multiple addresses and all that, I don't mess with it. Too much trouble, plus it's dishonest. The old "huge evil corporations" argument is just rationalization. What comes around goes around... or said in different way, "treat others the way you would want to be treated". I don't like being scammed, so I don't scam others.

I was told 4-6 weeks also, they probaly messed up every rebate for this offer. Fuji does suck, atleast when its from best buy you can submit online at http://www.myrewards.info/rebates/, so you can check the status, they lie and say it will be processed within 20 days but that never happens.

I've sent in quite a few rebates from Officemax and got every one. Even though it took much longer than their promised 6-8 weeks. Last one was for a 100-pack of Belken slim jewel cases. Was $10 instant rebate + a $10 mail-in making them free. I did finally get the rebate after nearly 2½ months. Actually, it was a $9.63 rebate since I had to add a 37¢ stamp to mail it in!
Like a flea circus at a dog show!

First of all presto-dorko let's get the record straight
What part of "One rebate per household" don't you understand?
(Strange that you say you asked 2 friends to send in the rebate. Earlier you said you said used their addresses. They are both dishonest anyway.)
Huge corporations can survive a lot of things. They can survive shoplifting, they can survive embezzling, they can survive employee theft, they can survive abuse of their return policy. That doesn't make any of those things right. It's not complicated. You're just rationalizing.
So it turns out this huge mean spirited company maintains an 800 number which you called and they quickly corrected your problem. Bastards!
BTW, it is rationalizing (Obviously very deep for you), cheat those who try to cheat you. IT IS PART OF THE GAME STUPID. But I forgot you are Pharisee who does no wrong so you could never understand that !!!!
And you also believe this proves it is intentional? Gosh what a clever idea they had. We'll send these guys a postcard that claims they sent the wrong UPC code when they clearly will remember that they didn't! Boy oh boy that's much better than not sending them anything and pretending we never received it.
Take a look at most the posts here, most people have problems or headaches with rebates sooner or later. A few people may never have a problem, GREAT FOR THEM !!!! Just don't cry like girl because someone disagrees w/ you or does not maintain the moral status of PRETARDO !!!
You are in breach of the forum rules and are being issued with a formal warning.

yep! I posted this a month or two ago, They ARE a scam.
I had rebates, somehow go unpaid.
I contacted Fuji they never even claimed they didn't get them. "just re-submit"
I think FINALLY after hassling them I just go the last of them from Oct./Nov.
I also got some strange postcard saying it was invalid, called them... "oh that was a mistake, let me puch that rebate through for you"
I asked what happened to my 8 rebates that they just weren't going to pay, never got a response. They just count on you not persuing it.
They are scum!

Defcom,
Your last post was childish. I'll let the debate stand as it is.
Quote:
How is sending rebate forms for other people cheating?
Even Defcon says it is cheating.
In all seriousness presto, all that you did throughout this thread is simply antagonize anyone who mentioned the fact that system was unfair or questionable..... And point out morality issues !!!! Don't take it personal, I surely haven'tEven a fool can be wise, all he has to do is keep his mouth shut

I also received a card in the mail for an OfficeMax rebate that looked extremely similar to the one you posted. Mine was for CD-R 100 packs I believe.
I called the number on the card and guy I spoke with basically said (literally) "sorry for your trouble but because you are a valued customer we will honor the rebate and send you payment. Anything else today sir ?"
Sounded to me like this was some sort of rehearsed line for the cards they send out where people actually do care and the rebates are really valid. I asked the guy what had happened and he had absolutely no explanation - he had no actual details on why my rebate was not accepted other than the typical "UPC invalid", which was found on the card.

Rebates are often about run arounds. The most unscupulous companies try to outright cheat you out of the rebate, the best process them immediately, knowing they'll still come out ahead when a decent percentage of people fail to mail in the paperwork. In my experience, Fuji rebates are middle of the road. I've done two before and they took a decent amount of time, probably 7 or 8 weeks, but they arrived without me contacting them. As always, save copies of the paperwork and persist if you don't get satisfaction. Fuji also has an online website for submissions that speeds up the process.

> If you are totaly honest and law abiding citizen, then fair game !!! However if you ever intentionaly downloaded warez, made a questionable backup of a disc, broke the speed limit, or whatever, the STFU !!!!
So we should just disband the legal system- fire all the cops, judges and lawyers. Can't even find a single person to serve on a jury because there is no one is hasn't broke the speed limit or "whatever".
Hope nobody murders you tomorrow- they'll just get away with it. But what the heck- they'd just be getting rid of one more dishonest, law-breaking citizen.
You can rationalize all you want- that's just lying to yourself.

HA-HA-HA
No retard, I don't think that disbanding the legal system has any analogy to the point I made. If you read the entire thread (or have someone who can, read it for you) that was not it !!!!!
It amazes me how many people (like yourself) are just dumb as rocksEven a fool can be wise, all he has to do is keep his mouth shut

You're right- you don't think. And you're wrong- that's exactly the point you made.

Good advice- you should try it.

This is great
Obviously you can't read or interpret basic reading skills !!!! And your two replies so far are total waste of webspace..... I would break it down for you on a Sesame Street learning level, but I still feel I would be wasting my time
