I have this HDTV (1280x720) mpg video file of amazing quality that I would like to keep in a DVD. Does it need conversion to author the DVD? Will it maintain its quality in the DVD format or will it be degraded? Thanks.

You must reencode it to dvd standard. The quality will be degraded.
