    Hey everyone,

I will be doing some basic capturing with the Plextor PX-M402U. I will not require to edit the captured video in any way.

Do I need the winDVD creator? Or can I just capture with WinDVD player and store the movies on my HD until I want to burn?

I will be capturing clips that are maximum 2 min. in length.

    Thanks for your input

  2. WinDVD Player is just that, a player. You can use any dvd creation software you choose, ULead DVD, WinDVD Creator, Sonic's MyDVD and DVDit, etc.

You use Creator2 to capture mpeg2/divx or vcd clips and WinDVD to playback the MPEG2/DIVX files or DVD. Plextor bundles WinDVD 5 with M402U so buyers can also play DVD on PC.

Use Creator2's DVD high quality presets if you just want to capture a few sets of 2 minute clips. Then author the clips and set them as chapters.

Make sure to download and apply the latest driver http://www.plextor.com/eng/support/downloads/M402_1005.exe
They fixed audio sync problem related to VHS capture from M402_1004.exe. As well d/l the patch for Creator2 http://www.plextor.com/eng/support/downloads/2.0B014.339-18595.WCreator2.Plextor.from....1-17826.iU.exe
