I have 4 avi files I'm trying to resize to get a smooth playback when playing from CD-R. Yes I tried WMP, Divx Player, VLC....

    Video 1:
    680x538, 25fps, Divx 5
    24000MHz, Mpeg Layer-3

    Video 2:
    640x480, ~30fps, Divx 5
    32000MHz, Mpeg Layer-3

    Video 3 & 4:
    672x368, 25fps, Divx 5
    48000MHz, AC-3ACM Dec

In VDubMod, I tryed Direct stream copy (video). But doing a preview I get no video.
I tryed Full Processing mode with codec compression, but doing a preview it tells me that the Projecting file size will be around 150GB.

In TMPGEnc (trying to convert it to MPG). The final size is 900MB. (even converted to a 1:1)

I'm just trying to reduce the frame size to get smooth playback from cd, nothing else. Those 2 programs doesn't work for me.

I don't understand what you're trying to do. Do you just want to get your movie under 700mb? You have to select some kind of compression in full processing mode like Divx or Xvid. The program works fine, you just need to learn more about it.

When burnt on CD it doen't playback properly. The video freezes or jumps. I use to use those program all the time in Win98 to fix the problem. Now on XP, it doen't work the way it use to.

I think the problem is that your drive is spinning too fast. Copy it to your hard drive and see if you have the same problem. You can also try something like Drive Speed that will slow down your drive during playback. It doesn't always work for me, I just copy the file to the hard drive.

Playback works a bit better on HD, but only with VLC. The DriveSpeed doesn't work either.

Before I was able to change to frame size (or convert it to mpg) and reburn it. Then everyting was fine.

When using a compression I always use Xvid codec.

i think i isolated your problem by looking at your PC specs. upgrade to a newer computer, or revert to 98, your machine isn't really up to the job of running XP.....
