how to save real media files...

i watch quite a bit of news on the bbc website on http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/3679177.stm however all the playback is in real one player, is there anyways i could save the videos?

Try camstudio.Freeware.

...or Streambox VCR. Camstudio is probably the best option. It'll record any specified portion of your screen. Just fire it up when the real media plays. Streambox is kind of a pain in the ass and doesn't always work.

we have something called the automatic tool linker, if it sees the name of a prog it recognises it links it. if you look on your screen when posting there's an option to disable it

Sometimes the tool links are a bit over-zealous. For example: It would be sweet if the links didn't work in situations when you don't want them to. Don't worry, mods. I know I can disable the links before posting.

Is it just me or Streambox really doesn't work well when RealOne player is intalled in your computer? Sometimes I can only record sound, sometimes the video suffered MASSIVE frame loss, to the point of unwatchable.

Does CamStudio handle RM format better? I really hate RM!

Camstudio is a screen recorder. While you are watching the movie, just fire it up and record as the movie plays.
