    Hello folks,

Has anyone written code to Archive or shotlist video.

    My situation:
I have about 450 or so clips captured using WinDV, all nicely
tagged by date/time etc ... the normal winDV way.
I'm wanting to build a database of these clips (reference to filename is fine) with Keywords. A media library of sorts.

Since I only want it of hobby use, its not worth my while to buy a professional package capable of maintaining ENG/newsroom volumes of data.

Had thought of even a MS Access database or MySQL, but would like to grab a preview image which my initial research suggests is hard to do.

Any thoughts, thanks for your time,

    Kyle

    Hi,

I'm a great fan of MS Access (MSA)
That is a great idea of yours to use it. And, you could cook up something so
quick - in a matter of minutes, and vualla, you're done.

No need for standalones (unless that's your planned direction)
Also, there are ways to make MSA look like it's a standalone (w/out the toolbar)
but first, it's tricky, and 2nd it may depend on the version you have. But,
never the less, you should be able to do it w/ no problem.. including adding
images to better illustrate your needs. However, if your idea ment to actually
add a "video" sequence to it, (using links) you should be able to do this too,
by using the .DLL files for opening/reading AVI files inside ms access. I've
created .DLL files that I created a few Functions inside them from a Delphi 6
project and comiple to .DLL file, and opended them in MSA w/ no problems
and used the function inside ms access. However, an image might be a bit
harder to do, now that I think of it, but might still be done, if not, then by
using third party tools. And, before you ask, no I do not know how to do
the video part, since I never needed it in my endeavors :P

    Good luck,
    -vhelp
