the KVCD Q matrix has already been heavily adjusted. there's not a lot you can do to it to improve picture quality (which is what i assume you're trying to ask)

Was there anything specific you needed to know? a bit more background info would be useful.

Well, basically I would like to know people's personal opinions about it. Ho wthey view the quality of it an so forth. Also important is how effective they think it is at converting animation. Thank You.

ok, my personal opinion is that the KVCD template is useless. it basically tries to turn MPEG1 into MPEG4 - and i'm not a fan of MPEG4. if you want decent quality and TV playback, buy a DVD burner - they cost next to nothing these days.

Never used it on animation, but i imagine the quality will be just as suspect as with live action footage.

well anime is notoriously hard to encode because the frame rates are all crazy! probably best bet is to pick a high action/visually complex scene and encode it with CQ and the normal templates in TMPGenc. use a different Q value until you find one with a quality you're happy with. then just encode all your material with this Q value and it'll all look the same.

If you need LOTS on a disc for a specific reason, low resolution low bitrate Divx on a Divx capable stand alone is probably a good idea.

I have to vote against using KVCD as well. It's fine if you don't have a DVD burner and you are trying to get a movie on one CD but I would never author an entire DVD using KVCD templates. Run some test encodes using the specs I suggested in your other thread(352x480, 2500kbps). I think you'll be pleased. You'll be able to get a good three and a half hours on one DVD that way too.
