Broken Alba TVD3540 TV/DVD combo due to region free hack!

I used a region free hack on my Alba TVD3540 TV/DVD combo. I entered a code on the setup page and this secret menu appeared that lets you choose the region. I changed it to region 1, then changed it back to region 2 (i live in the UK). But now it doesn't play DVDs properley. The menus don't work, and the movies play all jerky and keep freezing, and it gets worse as the movie progresses. Burned DVDs are evne worse. However it still plays CDs, MP3s normally. Is there osme way I can reset the DVD player? I have laready tried using the "Restore defaults" option on the setup menu, but it hasn't resolved the problem.

cant you change it to something like region 0.
