I searched the guides, and I searched the forums and I couldn't find the answer to my question.

I want to be able to convert a MOV movie to MPG so I can author and burn to DVD.

According to my search results, it can be done in TMPGEnc, but whenever I attempt to load it in this program, I get the "This file format is unsupported". I am running a PC with WinXP Pro (and not a Mac).

    Any thoughts??

    Thanks in advance!

Maybe use one of the tools to convert it to AVI first, then open in an editor and save as MPEG.

TMPGEnc works fine, go to the left on this web site and click Tools, search mov.
You will find a free plug in, be shure you put the file in your TMPGEnc folder.

    Good Luck

Well I downloaded this plugin, and put it in all the TMPG directories (just to be sure), but still nothing. Still get the "unsupported" error. Am I missing a step?

you might need to increase the priority.

  8. I also got this error even with the plugin, although i dont know whether setting priority would change anything, if you have quicktime pro, then you can export to uncompressed avi, providing you have enough room on your hard drive.

If you can open the file in Virtual Dub Mod then you can framesrve it through TMPGEnc.

Last time I checked this wasn't possible. Try raising the MOV Plugin's priority in TMPGEnc as gitreel suggested. If that doesn't work, I've converted MOV to mpg with both Mainconcept MPEG Encoder and Canopus Procoder. Try one of those.

why not use quicktime's mpeg export

  12. tmpgenc and the MOV plugin and the K-lite codec pack or Quicktime so that the codec is there for MOVs and it seems to be able to convert to Mpeg under those conditions.

Second option go to apple's website and buy Quicktime Pro, it has an export function. All of the above have worked and are working for me.

    Good Luck
