I have all the episodes of the anime Cowboy BeBop on retail DVD. i would like to back them p to as few DVD's as possible. I would like to know the preferred settings by other people out there when they convert anime. I have the Mainconcept Encoder and TMPGenc so I have some flexibility in my options. Thank You for your response.

Have a look at DVD Shrink. You may not have to re-encode at all.

Sorry I Didn't specify a little bit more. I want to add my own custom menus also so the conversion part would be necessary. Thank You for your quick response. I already use DVDshrink as its a pretty good product.

Not necessarily. All you would need to do is rip all the VOB's to your hard drive and re-author with something like TMPGEnc DVD Author or DVD Lab.

I recall a method that may do what you are looking for, that basically involves ripping all the episodes you want to your system, create your custom menus as required, this will probably mean that result is to big for DVD, don't worry about that for the moment

At this point, you then run the completed result with the custom episodes and menus through DVDShrink, Nero Recode, whatever transocoder you have access to

This, in theory, should then squeeze all your work to fit onto a single DVD in one shot, you've already done all the hard work is creating the custom DVD, so just let the transcoder do all the rest and burn the final output, which should now be the perfect DVD size, onto a DVD blank

Very true Teegee, I didn't come at it from that aspect. Ok but here is another added question. If you had to pick a lowest bitrate for anime onto DVD what bitrate would you go for? Thanks

2500-3000kbps using a resolution of 352x480/576(480 for NTSC/576 for PAL).
