  1. MAYBE SOMEONE COULD TELL ME WHY DVDSHRINK 3.17 WILL NOT RUN NERO (NERO 6.3) WHEN ITS DONE COPYING THE FILES. YES THE PREFERENCE IS CHECKED TO DO SO. IT'S NOT A REAL BIG THING YET, SINCE I'M USING CLONE TO COPY THE PROGRAM, BUT I ONLY HAVE 28 DAYS LEFT ON TRIAL VERSION OF CLONE. AND I'M NOT SURE WHAT PROGRAM IN NERO TO USE TO COPY THE MOVIE.

    FIRSTLY, STOP SHOUTING.

Have you definitely got Nero Burning Rom installed ?
    If in doubt, Google it.

  3. I would stick with Clone DVD. The combination of shrink DVD and Clone DVD works great for me. Not very experienced, but I have burned 48 DVDs in two months and have not yet had a coaster. I also use DVD Decryptor (to resolve read problems with shrink DVD). Nero, however is great for CDs and VCDs (with virtual dub and TMPGENC).

NERO SUCKS DONKEY BALLS FOR DVD BURNING SO TRY IMGTOOLS (CLASSIC VERSION) ALONG WITH DVD DECRYPTER FOR A TOTALLY FREE BURNING SOLUTION THAT WORKS VERY WELL !!!

Use a older version of DVD SHRINK then burn with the NERO you have. Here is a download for a older version of DVD SHRINK:
    http://mrbass.org/dvdshrink/dvdshrinkold/
    DOWNLOAD VERSION 3.0 BETA 5
I use that version with no problems. There are so many problems with the latest DVD SHRINK that has the built in NERO burn if you have it. You may also use a free burning program called IMG TOOL BURN.
    Good Luck!
    Here's the link:

The download for IMG TOOL BURN is in the middle of the site. Just download it according to which version of NERO you have. For example you got NERO 6.3 so download that one for IMG TOOL BURN.

    Correction.

    You want ImgTools classic version.

This works without using NERO in anyway shape or form.

Basically you use ImgTools to create an ISO IMAGE file from a VIDEO_TS folder of DVD files (VOB, IFO etc.)

Once your ISO IMAGE file is created you then burn with DVD Decrypter using ISO MODE ---> WRITE

This is THE best way of burning a DVD bar none.

I use Decrypter to rip, Shrink to compress and output an ISO file, then Decrypter to burn. No reaon whatsoever to introduce a third program (ImgTools) into the mix. Works great, all free, minimum number of programs floating around on the hard drive.

That's great but bear in mind that only the newest version of DVDShrink are capable of creating an ISO IMAGE file and those versions seem to be rather buggy. Seems like now most people are going back to DVDShrink 30Beta5 which can only do VIDEO_TS output.

Also other programs like the very popular DVD2ONE can only do VIDEO_TS output.

So ImgTools classic is still something you would want to keep around.

  10. For dvd5s use decrypter, iso read, then iso write 2x as fast as shrink.

As for nero not writing, that could be a few things. Why not just select to write files to you HD then use nero to make a dvd?

Agree. I have used Shrink 3.1.7.5 since it was available and it appears to be problem-free (for me, at least). For those with problems, your solution would be the best.

Same here. There are veterans of this forum who have related bugs and macroblocks, and their opinions command respect, but I haven't had any problems.

Just finished some unscientific tests with an AVI conversion to 1/2 D1, avg. bitrate just over 3000. At 100% there are just a few (dark) spots with macroblocks in the movie. I used DVDShrink versions 3.1.7.5, 3.0 beta 5, and 2.3. The first two had deep analysis enabled, 2.3 obviously did not. The movie was shrunk to 90%, then 80%. On my 25" TV, I honestly can't tell any difference between Shrink versions. Artifacts increased with compression apparently the same for all three and are very noticeable at 80%. Oddly, version 2.3 (no deep analysis) looked as good as the others.

Of course, different sources may yield different results.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!

I gave him the link to download just the IMG TOOL BURN. I understand what you said in your earlier post about creating a ISO image by using IMG TOOL CLASSIC. The IMG TOOL BURN is just used to burn a DVD. In my original post I suggested he just use a older version of DVD SHRINK then use IMG TOOL BURN to burn.

This is from the IMG TOOL BURN site:
ImgTool Burn uses the Nero API to burn DVD root directories directly to DVD. Because the Nero API is used, you need an installed version of Nero Burning ROM (get a free demo here).
Since version 1.1.1 ImgTool Burn supports "language-files". Now its easy to translate ImgTool Burn into your favourite language (please send me your translation so I can put it into the download section below). Already included languages are english and german. Make sure the ImgTool version matches your Nero version.

MOJO SGA hasn't responded to this post so who knows if he's using any of the suggestions that have been made.

Guess I'm different, but I use Autoshrink ISO and DVDdecrypter to burn. Been using it with Shrink 3.16, but it worked well with 3.05B also. Couldn't get the Nero option to work and never seemed to need it with Shrink and Decrypter working good. I like it as it automates the ISO image creation and the DVDdecryter burning, along with shutting down my computer when done.
