Hey guys, This site has been great before for helping me, i have a new problem, please help!

I bought a new tv tuner card today, a cheap "Easy TV Capture" (ShenZhen) card. I can't seem to get it to recognize the channels. It recognizes two stations, and has them mislabeled as the wrong channels then they really are. When it tries to "autoscan" using intervideo windvr, you can kind of see the channels, but it is real staticy, and the auto scan doesn't recognize them. When going to those channels, nothing comes through. I have the setting on "cable" tv, and ntsc_m, so i don't think it is a settings issue. I tried the other features, like plugging in the s-video and composite direct from tv, and it would pick up two channels at once and often freeze. Anyone have any ideas? There is no real tech help since this is a no name card. Thanks guys!

Try change from "cable" to "antenna".

Changing to "antenna" gave me a few more channels (appx 10), but still not full range. Plus it is poor quality and often black and white. What did that option do?

Sorry but the answer is that sometimes the extra $$$ outweighs the problems... And sorry but I have no more than that...

I have a Hauppauge WinTV. I have the same problem and the tech support told me to switch to antenna and that fixed the problem. I also download the latest drivers from the Huappauge website. I have since swith to another TV card - Compro VideoMate TV Gold Plus. I also download the latest driver and tune to antenna. If your TV signal is strong, then try download the latest drivers.

makntraks, why 2 yellow cards ?

Sometimes it's just a cheap TV Card, but make sure you're running at the recommended system requirements and not the minimum. This causes some problems, too, but usually not often like the ones you're having. Also make sure you have all the most recent drivers and software. This is as much help as you're going to get. Try the All In Wonders if you're looking for TV capture, but keep and eye on the requirements and make sure you have all of the most recent software. Make sure you get a video card that has all it's software and hardware, too. It sucks when you have to spend more money on something cheap, because it came with nothing helpful for what you're trying to do.

Perhaps this card is using one of those BTXXX chipsets and the driver provided is not wdm (perhaps old disc designed for windows 98 ).
    Try the driver from http://btwincap.sourceforge.net/download.html
and run windvr again or use Virtualdub mod for capturing.

    Good Luck.

  8. I too bought this POS card but I think I have a solution for you. Download iuVCR http://www.iulab.com/iuvcr/download.shtml . Go under the channels tab and there is a button with a dropdown menu that lets you choose between cable antenna and frequency. choose frequency and then click on the scan button. You'll find that the channels are all there but the frequencies are all wrong but at least you will be able to get more than 2 channels.

  9. Do you have the cable directly plugged into your capture card or are you plugged in through a cable box? If it's the latter, then the card will only detect the channel the cable runs on plus maybe one or two channels outside. Try plugging the cable directly into your capture card bypassing the cable box.

If that's not the problem, then disregard

  10. Can Tv tuner cards decode the cable tv providers signal?
