This is wierd, I think that when I did the SVCD hack a few weeks ago, I changed one of the PROM settings (I was subject to the effect of a cuppla beers!!)...
This is what now happens. VCD and SVCD play perfectly. Any DVD that I put in the player plays for a few seconds, then stops itself. I have tried a few different things, changed the PROM back to what I think is the original for this player (55 53 00 55 16 55 00 FF), factory reset, turning off PBC in the menu...
The only thing I can think of is that these values have changed (when I tried factory reset on different occasions, although the PROM was set differently, it was not changed by the reset... would there be another way????)
If someone could help me get this sorted I would be incredibly grateful!!
Thanks!!!

leave PBC on.
as for the PROM settings, you should have written them down.
or maybe someone who owns one, will know them.
