I haven't been able to find an answer for this problem:

I have authored a dvd using TMPGEnc DVD Author with ac3 audio. The video stream (m2v) file plays in PowerDVD with no problems at all. However, once I have authored the VOB files, muxing the ac3 audio with DVD author, PowerDVD does not play the dvd files. It just gives me a blank, black screen. I can speed through the dvd at 2x or 3x and then I can see the video, but it won't play at normal 1x speed.

I can open the dvd files in Windows Media player and it will play, although it's almost a choppy, slower-motion like video. The same goes for IfoEdit when I open it in there. When I encoded, I had to convert the fps from 25 to 23.976 frameserving with Vdub. I don't think there's a problem there since the m2v video stream looks perfect when I play it. The problem is after I author with DVD Author, PowerDVD doesn't like it. Anyone know what's going on?

  2. DVD does not support 23.976 fps so i guess the m2v file has a pulldown, or else you should not be allowed to add the file in TDA. Did TDA give any warnings about the file? I know ifoedit dont care much, so try to mux it there, then play in powerdvd.

There is a 3:2 pulldown when I encode it. I've done other files like this and powerdvd had no problem playing them. Like I said, it will play the m2v file, but it's after I compile them to vob files in DVD Author that it won't play.

    I've never compiled in IfoEdit...

  4. It may not help but you could try, i know i would. In ifoedit, click menu DVD Author -> Author new DVD, then add the video and audio files and set an output folder.
