  1. Hello all,

When creating a DVD menu with Studio 9, does the menu automatically advance to the first chapter after playing the menu for x seconds? I would like the menu to "stay put" when the DVD is played, so that the user can take their time choosing a chapter to play. Is this possible?

    Thanks for the help!

I have Studio 8 and 9. Although I haven't tried a new project in 9 yet, 8 produced menus that stayed put without having to do anything special. Perhaps that is because I have learned not to trust Studio's "Make DVD" function; instead, I produced Studio-produced MPEG-2 files and imported them into TMPGEnc DVD Author.

I use TDA to make the menus; even pulling in the Studio motion menus (the actual motion-menu backgrounds) into TDA as background video. As a final twist, I sometimes make a 30-second motion menu in Studio, add a 30-sec sound track, output it as an MPEG-2 and bring it into TDA -- and use that as a motion menu WITH sound. All videos play find on my standalones (I have 3), and menus stay on-screen until a menu item is selected.
    You're never alone with schizophrenia.

  3. Hi Rob,

Yes, I have used TDA to make DVD menus and it works great. Since your post, I've discovered that Pinnacle 9 menus "stay put" after the motion background has looped, which is exactly what I wanted.

    Thanks for the advice!
