What is this holiday and how did it originate?

  2. It's the day after Christmas Day and is called St. Stephen's Day in Ireland.

I think the name comes from "boxing" up money or other Christmas Day gifts from the churches and giving them to the poor ... of course I could be wrong on that!

Pity. I also heard that on this day, supervisors do the subordinates job for the day, and vice versa. Is that true?

  6. It's marked on many American calenders though.

Even though we don't exactly celebrate this day, we do have organizations/churches/Salvation Army that people either make donations to or give gifts to...and those go out to those in need, including - elderly in care homes, homeless people, etc during the holidays.

If the perception from outside the U.S. is that Americans don't care...I can assure you that is not true.

In fact, the one word I was always taught to be the most important thing to ever learn in life, is the word compassion.
