Hi,
This probably belongs in the Editing forum but I'm still kind of a noob to this so i'm going for this one as I think this is a easy solution (hopefully).
I recorded some music videos to DVD from my tivo, put the DVD-R into my PC, and ripped each video using EasyVCD. So I have 28 seperate mpegs of each video. There's a few extra seconds of video at the beginning and end of each video that I want to cut off. So, I load the video into TMPGEnc and go to Mpeg Tools, Cut/Join, add the video, select it and click Edit, set the start and end times, and go.
Starting Mpeg file is 4:20. Resulting video shows a total time of 3:26, but runs for 4:17 (correct). There's no audio sync issues or anything, it just bugs me that it doesn't show the correct time and I can't use the slider to go to a certain part past that 3:26 mark. So anyone know what's goin on? I don't know if anyone needs more info, but I'll provide it if it'll help. Thanks!!

Tmpgenc won't cut your video frame accurate, it will be only set on GOP, so either use other tool like "Womble MPEG2VCR" or use virtual dub and find I frame and cut it on I frame's edge and it will work, if your original encode is TMPGEnc too I can tell you that I frame usually start when scene has very much motion or mostly happen when scene change into another by one frame different so it may be easy to find by eye if you're lazy with virtualdub
hope it helps.

sorry, I think that was my mistake that I didn't fully read your post. I think your mpg file have corrupted timecode, you may re-encode them or try some mpeg repair program to fix it.
