It's possible to convert a "cd rom audio cable" output into a "3.5mm stereo mini phone plug" input ?

    Thanks

  2. There's only 4 pins.

the two in the center are ground (usually black, and sometime joined)

i think the red is right channel and white is left.

easy & cheap way to find out.

get a pair of rca jacks, two pairs of test leads (insulated wire with alligator clips at both ends) and a spare cd-rom audio cable.

strip a little insulation from each of the wires on the cd cable, attach the test leads between the wires and the rca jacks, and play around with combinations until one works (or until they all fail).

make a chart (ie "white wire - tip, red - sleeve") , so you don't duplicate combinations.

Hey let me know what happens and if it works. My sound card died and I'm just 2 damn cheap to buy a new one. Would like to know which wires work for you. You want to put a head phone jack on it are you trying to record out from your computer perhaps onto tape? I just want to hook a set of speakers up to mine so a wire to wire splice will work fine for me.

Well, it worked...but not as I expected.

What I did want to do is: instead of use the "line in" to transfer the sound from my tv tuner to the sound card, I would like use the "aux in"....so, I would transfer the sound from the tv tuner (that have a phone plug output), directly to the "aux in" (that have another output).

All this because using the line in, the sound coming from the tv tuner is low when capturing, and sometimes with clipping (doesn't matter how low the volume is, there is clipping). So I was trying to solve this problem using the aux in. Anyway, using the aux in the audio is a little high, but still with the damn clipping.

Everybody that have this card (Asus TV Tuner) have the same problem. Hard to know how to solve it...
