  2. What does your Driver File Details say under the Device Manager, your dvd player and the driver tab>Driver Details.... Mine says this:

    c:\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys
    c:\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\imapi.sys
    c:\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\PxHelp20.sys
    c:\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\redbook.sys
    c:\WINDOWS\System32\DRIVERS\storprop.dll

Imapi is WindowsXP built in burning software, this should be disabled anyways. Check your taskmanager to see if it's running and kill it. Disable the start up service from the system management console.

PxHelp20 is TMPG DVD Author's old burning engine, based on the PX engine (Prassi, RNM), but it was later moved to the Gear system.

CDROM and Redbook are default system files

not sure about storprop, most likely store properties?

  9. got the new one in today, omg was it a pain in the ass. I checked my tracking # on fed-ex's site and it said it was delivered around 11:00 a.m. but the package was nowhere to be found, after calling fed-ex and seeing if it went to the wrong place, and ending up getting nowhere i assumed it was stolen. So i was about to call up and see if i can get ANOTHER one, but i went out to go to my uncle's house and noticed a package sitting on my neighbors porch, went over and sure enough it was mine. Slapped her in and it works fine! I'm not flashing this one or anything this time. Come to think of it, when i first got the original one the chip at the back bottom right corner was kinda burnt, this one is shiny and green. I assume that it was screwed before i got it. Now nero works fine with the disc's it originally couldn't read! Thanks for your helps mate, i'm sure i'll be asking some questions in the near future...
