I'm still reeling from the notion that American Idol is racist because all the contestants are Americans. I smell a xenophobe amongst us.

That was a case where I thought he might have really been the second-best, but got the win because of reverse discrimination. Clay Aiken had a better style, voice, presence, delivery, etc. In fact, Clay is doing better with his singing than Reuben is, success-wise.

That isn't the first time the best didn't win on American Idol. We don't watch it anymore after Clay lost. Heck, we even voted in that one and we rarely do stuff like that.

  11. It's as simple as this;

If you disagree with the Mainstream then your stupid....
but if you disagree with the Special Interest then your EVIL!

If Elton John had any clue what American tastes were, we'd all be buying his records!

and until they add a Swimsuite competition, i refuse to watch such a superficial piece of garbage.

This is also what I think happenned. Will be interesting to see who the previous John stevens voters migrate to.

You mean "honky mofo". No, not when you do it. If I called you that it would either sound funny or retarded since I'm white. Blacks call each other the "N" word all the time, but don't you try calling them that or you're labeled a racist ...rightfully so. I never liked the word myself. When they use it with each other it's a term of affection or cameraderie.

Is this supposed to be a joke? The name of the show is American Idol. Also nationality has nothing to do with race.

EDIT:I guess great minds think alike. You two type too fast.
    zzzzzzz

    There bitin well today!

So just as a matter of interest, if your race is not your citizenship, what do you call yourself? With a mix of german, irish, scottish, and finish, and thats only the mix from the last 5 generations, would I be a Viking Gaelic Norman Saxon or what?.

Must make Passports from the USofA very long winded! Or do you pick one flavour and go with that?

Also since when does the "American" in American Idol refer to citizens of the USof A only?, I though America went from Canada to Chile, a few more countries than just the US of A?

So you are saying that because the United States of America has the word America in its title, it is now racist/ethnocentric, whatever for someone to shorten the name to America unless they are prepared to include all of the Western Hemisphere, despite the fact that everyone knows exactly what they mean by it. I suppose they could have named it United States of America's Idol, but then the show would have been even more stupid.

It sure is a good thing for Canadian Idol that their country doesn't have the word America in it. Same goes for all those South American countries with their local Idol spinoffs too. After all, look at all the Canadians and Chileans that call themselves Americans right? Oh wait...

In case you are missing the sarcasm, American Idol is an American (USA) show because it is produced by an an american broadcasting company, primarily broadcast in the USA, and as such is obviously geared toward American audiences, who presumably would prefer to see people like themselves up on stage. What are you gonna do, complain because there aren't any Canadian citizens in the Miss America Pageant? These things are just understood.

If you want to see an Idol that is open to all nationalities then watch World Idol. Otherwise you will have to pick one of the many countries broadcasting their own version and stick with that.

Not all blacks use the "N" word, contrary to what you were led to believe. Anyway, to get back on subject, this is the way the show boils down to: If you believe in the data reported in the article and the 2000 U.S. Census, what happened was the 15% of 205 million white American watch the show (30.8 million), and 19% of the 33.7 million black Americans (6.4 million) tuned in as well.

Now the funny part. They asked all 37.2 viewers which performers they liked best. Why was everyone shocked when the white performers came out on top? Clay Aiken must not have connected with his popular base to let Reuben walk away with it.

Finally, if the average person says a person can really sing, it is a matter of opinion. If a seasoned singer says a person can sing, maybe one should give a listen.
    Hello.
